Delft-style potiche, Boch Belgium for Royal Sphinx Holland

This is a beautiful, bulbous-bodied piece with a lid, decorated in cobalt blue on a cream background with floral motifs, arabesques and ornamental cartouches inspired by the Dutch Delft tradition. The lid features a sculpted handle in the shape of a guardian dog/lion, a decorative element of Oriental influence.

The piece has a glossy glazed finish, a light-coloured interior and is marked on the base with the inscription ‘Made for Royal Sphinx Holland by Boch Belgium — Delfts’, and was probably produced between the 1970s and 1980s.
