A beautiful French opaline bowl on a foot, probably by Portieux. The French opaline stood out in the 19th century for the delicacy of its milky, translucent glass, which was prized by the European aristocracy for its soft, sophisticated appearance. Produced mainly in France during the Restoration and Napoleon III periods, opaline became a symbol of decorative elegance. Its hues, often white, green, blue or pink, and its refined finish reflect the high technical standards of French craftsmanship of the time.

This piece features the classic characteristics of opaline objects: the milky translucency and bluish base that create a light and elegant piece. The silhouette of this piece also draws attention due to its large size.

The use of an object like this is full of possibilities. This piece can be used as a fruit bowl, to serve pasta or rice, or even outside the culinary context as a hand towel holder or to hold a floral arrangement.
